The bar itself was inspired by the pinxto bars in Barcelona
and San Sebastian, Spain. Pinxto/Pinchos in Spanish literally means thorns or
sticks. A pinxto in this sense is a small snack; some also say it is the local
word for tapas that is usually eaten at a bar or taverns. The bar was quite
dark, and gave it a mysterious atmosphere, there was modern Spanish music
playing and the wooden furniture gave it a modern bar look.
Here's how it works: Each little dish has either a short or
long stick, stuck on it. The short one is £1.99 and the longer one is £2.75
each. It is self service, so once you find a seat, order your drinks and help
yourself to the delicious food on offer.
Quite a good variety of alcoholic drinks, sadly no
Sangria....so sad.....I became slightly addicted since my trip to Spain a while
ago. But they do have quite a few drinks to choose from , non-alcoholic drinks
also available.
The food, the food!!! Pix is quite interesting, their menu
changes around every month or so, the bar keeps track what has been eaten every
time, so the menu depends on which dishes are more popular.
The dishes are cooked downstairs in their kitchen and replaced in regular intervals.

Spinach
and sweet potato stack: it was really nice and sweet due to the sweet
potato, texture wise it tasted a bit like a terrine/ jelly like.
Marinated fig with goat’s cheese on crusty bread: I'm not a fan
of goat’s cheese, but apparently it was a hit too.
Salted cod croquettes: which
tasted awesome, the outer layer was really crunchy, it was
really flavourful, but the spices really overpowered any traces of cod but
it was great, we helped ourselves for another serving.
Chick
pea and cashew nut, sadly it was quite bland.
Chistorra kebab, (chistorra
is a Spanish pork sausage with paprika and garlic), I only ate the potato, the sausage tasted really nice, with kicks of spice.
A star of
the show, sighs..... Iberico ham and bechamel croquettes served with crispy
bread. It was really crispy and I love, love the smokey flavours! Just love it, please just try it!
Final verdict:
The food was quite good, though certain dishes were slightly a let down either wise it was great!
Me
gusta (it pleases me) as my friend would say, the patatas bravas was wonderful!
So wonderful that I never managed to take a picture of it while it was on my
table and I had two whole bowls of it. It might seem a simple dish, but the
tomato sauce was great, with hints of spiciness and hotness and of course
potatoes can never do any wrong.
And this is Oscar, he was working at PIX at that time and he
was nice enough to tell me a bit about the bar. The bar was opened about two
and a half years ago, his uncle chose the name as pincho means thorn or spike
and each dish is like a pick. And like I explained before they were inspired by
' San Sebastian tapas bar, which are similar to PIX, as they allow
customers to choose their own tapas.

Its is slightly on the priciey side, but if you're a small eater it's fine, the food's
quality is quite good. The price is something you would expect in this kind of
surrounding it was mostly self service but the staff
was quite friendly and helpful.
